Israeli Airstrikes Breach Ceasefire in Southern Lebanon
(MENAFN) Israeli fighter jets carried out multiple air raids across southern Lebanon on Sunday, marking the most recent breach of a ceasefire pact established in November 2024, according to Lebanese media sources.
The bombardments focused on the region situated between the outskirts of the Midane plain, Kafr Rumman, and Jarmaq, all located within the Nabatieh area, as reported by a news agency.
Videos shared across various social media platforms depicted thick smoke billowing from the targeted locations.
However, there has yet to be any verified information regarding injuries or material destruction resulting from the strikes.
In addition, the news agency stated that an Israeli unmanned aerial vehicle also hit a residential structure in the town of Houmine al-Fawqa, which is also in the Nabatieh district.
The ceasefire agreement came into effect in November 2024, concluding a year of cross-border hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel that began in October 2023.
These clashes intensified into a comprehensive Israeli military campaign by September 2024, which led to more than 4,000 fatalities and roughly 17,000 people wounded.
As per the ceasefire conditions, Israel was obligated to completely pull its forces out of southern Lebanese territory by January 2025.
Nevertheless, the withdrawal has only been partial so far, with Israeli forces still occupying five military posts near the border.
